Introduction

I am deeply interested in the use of semantic markups for legal and financial systems, particularly for AI processing of international law and banking.

What are your thoughts about the Semantic Web? Is it the next Big Thing?

It is the Next Big Thing. But it's going to come bit by bit, piece by piece, from a bunch of working groups. I think that business financials and legal markups are the most likely to gain big traction first.

Which new technologies would you like to learn? Have you worked with any "semantic" technologies such as XML, RDF, OWL, GRDDL, or SPARQL?

I want to learn more about RDF, XBRL, SPARQL, RIF, and semantic systems for legal systems. I've been using XML (DocBook in particular) for the last 4 years.

Which applications or web sites will make the Semantic Web a reality in the public eye?

Semantic markup of Executive regulations and Legislative bills.
