I am an architecture lead who is applying semantic technologies to application integration and enterprise architecture. I want to broaden my knowledge to improve my effectiveness and have intellectual fun.
I hope so, but I recall the all the AI promises from 1985 to around 1992 (I was working on Lisp, KEE, and OPS-5 expert systems). We built a lot of infrastructure technology, but failed to be the next big thing. Still, it looks very promising.
Done work with XML, RDF and basic OWL. Starting to pick-up SPARQL. Also, interested in design notations to capture semantics. I am taking a deep look at Object-Role Modeling (maps to FOL) and OCL.
Google (I think of PageRank indices as metadata) and eventually Semantic Wikipedia. Maybe something in E-Commerce if we can build systems that zap cross-domain transaction costs.
