This evening session is a tangible guided tour of innovative semantic web applications and user interfaces. What is being adopted from current Internet - and Rich Internet - apps and sites? What new design concepts might be possible now or in the future? We'll discuss the opportunities, issues, and implications for people who will be users of the "linked web of data" (without their having to be engaged in its development and data modeling). And we'll continue to ask one of our favorite questions: How can it be made easier and more useful?

This talk is relevant to designers, semantic web developers, usability professionals, and business people. Duane Degler will be our speaker for this evening. Duane is a partner in Design for Context, a local usability design consultancy. He has over ten years of experience in the design of semantics-based applications and web sites, and over 20 years consulting experience in knowledge management and business performance. He has led software projects for commercial and government clients in the US and Europe. Duane co-organizes the Semantic Web User Interaction workshop series and is a participant in the UPA Usability Body of Knowledge project. He studied Communications with a focus on the human change impacts arising from new technology adoption.

The Center is one block from the Bethesda Metro station in downtown Bethesda. There is also a parking garage under the building for those who are driving. The entrance faces a courtyard just up above the street level - follow the stairs by the Chipotle restaurant at the corner of Edgemoor Lane and Old Georgetown Road.
