This meetup will showcase two exciting applications of semantic enterprise technologies. First, Cory Casanave and Tom Digre of Model Driven Solutions will demonstrate publishing models and architectures as linked open data (LOD). This will be followed with a case study and demo by Greg Bardwell of Innovative Query, on Semantic Technology and Enterprise Applications.
Publishing models and architectures as LOD
This talk will focus on the business case and technology support for publishing models and architectures as linked open data (LOD). The business case for this is that architectures are more valuable when they are visible, shared and linked. Publishing government architectural data supports the president’s open government initiative in support of visibility, collaboration and participation. Publishing as LOD fits with the emerging thinking on the best way for government data to be published in an accessible, web based, linkable and query able form based on standards.
Some background on how to leverage LOD for government architectures can be found in the ISWC presentation, here: http://lib.modeldrive...
GIVE US YOUR MODELS! If you will provide ModelDriven.org with your XMI or RDF based models with a license to publish the model data on the internet, we will publish them as part of our demonstration architectural data server at no charge. This data could then also be published on data.gov or any other data registry. Our EKB server is capable of publishing any XMI file (UML, XML-Schema, BPMN, SoaML, Etc) as LOD. More information on the EKB project can be found here: http://portal.modeldr...
We will then organize these models for presentation as data (with web page access as well) on the demonstration server.

Semantic Technology and Enterprise Applications
This talk will discuss how semantic technology will be applied to a case within Air Force Acquisitions to build a Semantic Business Intelligence (SBI) system for their unstructured data. (http://www.innovative....
To start, Innovative Query will briefly present IQeXplore – a Semantic application platform with tools and API for search/discovery, visualization, and collaboration. This software is based on W3C standards and includes connectors to enterprise data sources, Natural Language Processing (NLP), semantic analysis with custom ontologies, enterprise search integration, full-text search, collaboration, as well as UI for semantic discovery/navigation and visualization features.
For the Air Force, as with any organization, using and getting the value out of 100+ data repositories is a timely and costly task. Their goal is simple…. to make their vast amounts of unstructured text content understandable and to connect and explore unstructured information from contractual documents with other data. Air Force Acquisitions understood they needed to go beyond the ability to do simple keyword search and clustering to achieve their goal. In short, the Air Force wants to build a Semantic Business Intelligence (SBI) system incorporating their unstructured content with the ability to identify and visualize relationships between people, contracts, organizations, etc and the related projects, reports, and budgets.
Come see how use of semantic technology is solving real enterprise problems with a linked open data approach within the military.
